María Elena Zaballos García

Mª Elena Zaballos García earned her PhD degree from the University of Valencia (Spain) under the direction of Dr. D. José Sepúlveda Arques in 1986.

She obtained the academic position of Associate Professor (1997) and later the position of Professor in 2008.

She participated in different research projects led by Dr. D. José Sepúlveda, in different areas of Organic Chemistry (heterocyclic chemistry, asymmetric synthesis, photochemistry and studies of reaction mechanisms).

She started working in the research group led by Dr. Julia Perez-Prieto in 2007. During her research career, she has directed several undergraduate theses, final year projects, Master’s theses and five doctoral theses. As a result, she has published 53 articles in prestigious international journals in the aforementioned areas and has participated in numerous conferences, both as a speaker and organizer of the same.

Currently, her work is directed towards the synthesis of nanoparticles and multifunctional compounds and the study of their possible application in both the biological and chemical fields. With respect to the university teaching imparted, he has lent 26 years of full-time service at the University of Valencia, teaching different subjects of responsibility of the Department of Organic Chemistry of the University of Valencia, in different degrees (Chemical Engineering, Industrial Electronic Engineering , Optics, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Biological Sciences and Biotechnology), theoretical classes, laboratory practices, end-of-degree projects and Master’s final projects.
